aero glass supported all versions

Aero Glass supported in all versions?

Will Aero Glass be supported in all editions in Windows Vista? I've heard rumors that it wouldn't be supported in the Home Basic version. I hope this isn't the case because you know there will be a lot of people that will be on the Vista newsgroups saying "How come I don't have Aero Glass even though I have a computer that will support it?".

I heard something similar to this rumor - but it was limited to the 'Starter' Edition i.e. the version of Windows sold extremely cheap to some 3rd world countries.
That's the only version I could see it being left out of. Leaving it out of Home Basic - or whatever it gets called - if it exists - would be pretty dumb considering the new UI is a big thing for home users who won't understand all the stuff under the hood as much as a geek until they realize everything is still working several years down the line. 8-)

I knew the Starter Edition was affected, but I know I heard rumors of the

Home Basic as well, but then again, I hope they're wrong.

They've got to be wrong. Something like that would just be plain dumb. 8-)

The SKU's have not been finalized, so I wouldn't rule anything out yet. In the case of Home Basic, I personally believe its a lowend Edition of Home, which will be cheaper that the traditional Home Edtion of Windows. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Many people will get their PCs with Home Basic and look expectantly for all those neat aero efffects .. and when they're not there .. and they have to pay for them .. groan.
Sure, leave out the Media Centre .. leave out online games .. leave out this or that .. the customer will think that maybe it is OK to pay extra for Media Centre and other items .. but don't make the customers groan; I doubt groans are all that good for business in the long run.

By the time that the advertising and the marketing kicks in later this year, Microsoft will make it perfectly obvious which versions have which feature, especially ones such as Aero Glass and Media Center :o)
